First I have to explain what “Ige” means. “Ige” is a protein molecule manufactured by the body to combat bacteria and viruses. It is a type of immunoglobulin found on the surface of the mast cells which exists throughout the body. “Ige” causes must cells to produce chemical messengers. In case of food allergy, the body’s immune system does not recognize as safe an antigen in apparently harmless substances. So the immune system produces “Ige” which triggers the mast cells to release chemicals which cause inflammation, the blood pressure can drop suddenly and the victim can collapse. Allergic reactions are usually localized to a particular part of the body and can cause asthma, eczema, flushing, sudden blood pressure drop.
