Here are three types of fat we should know about if we care about our health.
Saturated fat- this is the fat that should be avoided. Main source of it is animal products and vegetarians can receive excessive amounts from milk, butter, cream etc. It can be found in few vegetal sources as palm oil, coconut oil .. Consumption of high amounts of saturated fat is liked with high levels of cholesterol and heart circulatory problems. It stays hard at room temperature.
Polysaturated fat- It is found in seeds, grains, walnuts, soya products and margarines made from rapeseed, sunflower and safflower. It has been shown not to rise cholesterol levels and should be the greater amount of fat we eat. It stays liquid at room temperature.
Monosaturated fat- is found in the olives, cashew nuts, hazelnut oil are good sources of this fat. It has no effect on cholesterol levels.
